Strathcona County RCMP make an arrest after two armed robberies

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP have arrested two males and a female in relation to two pharmacy armed robberies that occurred in Feb 2021.

On Feb. 16, 2021 at 9:32 a.m., Strathcona County RCMP responded to an armed robbery at the Pharamasave on Brentwood Boulevard in Sherwood Park, Alta. The masked suspects entered the business and branished what is believed to be a knife. The suspects left the business with an undisclosed amount of cash and various pharmaceuticals and fled in a vehicle.

On Feb 19, 2021 at 7:30 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP responded to an armed robbery at the Aspen Pharmacy on Sherwood Drive in Sherwood Park, Alta. The masked suspects entered the business and banished what is believed to be a knife. The suspects left the business with various pharmaceuticals and again fled in a vehicle.

No physical injuries were reported.

Karan Sandhu (20), Babalpreet Sandhu (20) and Goy John Pur (19), all from Edmonton, Alta. have been charged with:

  • Armed robbery
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Disguised with intent
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Forcible confinement

In addition, Babalpreet Sandhu has been charged with fail to comply (x2).

Karan Sandhu and Goy John Pur were both released following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and are scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on March 24, 2021.

Babalpreet Sandhu was remanded into custody following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on March 5, 2021.

“The RCMP utilized several investigational strategies to gather the necessary evidence to lay charges and arrest these individuals,” says Staff Sergeant Andrew Kyle of the General Investigation Section (GIS). “The successful outcome is the result of the on-going dedication our RCMP officers have in ensuring the safety of our communities.”
