Strathcona County RCMP Mail Theft Safety Tips

Strathcona County RCMP mail theft safety tips

Sherwood Park, Alta. – In the past week the Strathcona County RCMP have received calls regarding mailboxes which had been broken into along Ridgeland Cres and Dawson Drive in Sherwood Park, Alta. It has not been determined what/if any mail was stolen but because it is a busy time of year for tax returns, Strathcona County RCMP wanted to remind citizens about some basic safety tips regarding mail & parcel delivery:

  • Check your mail every day
  • If you plan to be away, have a trusted neighbour or family member check your mail
  • Plan to be home when packages are supposed to arrive or arrange an alternate pickup location
  • Do not mail cash
  • Track your shipments, and if possible, opt for a “signature required” delivery
  • Consider installing surveillance cameras
