Strathcona County RCMP Property Crime Unit arrest male for fraud offences

 

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP have arrested a male who attempted to purchase a vehicle with fraudulent identification.

 

On Jan. 31, 2022, a male used a fraudulent name when submitting an online request to a vehicle dealership in Sherwood Park, Alta. During the financial application by the suspect it was determined the application appeared to be fraudulent. Strathcona County RCMP Property Crime Unit were contacted and took carriage of the investigation.

As a result, on Feb. 17, 2022, officers arrested the male suspect in Edmonton, Alta. while he was waiting to accept the delivery of the vehicle.

 

Aiman Mammeri (20) of Edmonton, Alta. has been charged with:

 

  • Fraud over $5000
  • Identity fraud
  • Possession of a forged document;
  • Possession of an identity document related to another person

 

Mammeri was also arrested on multiple warrants out of Edmonton for similar offences as well as drug trafficking.

 

He was remanded into custody following a Judicial Interim Release hearing and is schedule to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Feb. 25, 2022.
