Strathcona County RCMP Crime Reduction Unit arrest male for drug trafficking

Strathcona County, Alta. – On Jan. 20, 2023, Strathcona County RCMP Crime Reduction Unit arrested a male following a traffic stop on Highway 16 in Sherwood Park, Alta. The male was stopped for a traffic offence and as a result the vehicle was towed.

During the search of the vehicle police located 60 rounds of ammunition and what is believed to be 288.18 grams of methamphetamine 8.18 grams of cocaine, 8.16 grams of crack cocaine and Canadian currency.

The male had been released on conditions on Jan. 14, 2023 for possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of stolen property in Edmonton, Alta. 

Christopher Coates (37) a resident of Camrose, Alta. was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2)
  • Fail to comply

Christopher Coates was released from custody following a Judicial Interim Release hearing and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Feb. 22, 2023.
