Strathcona County RCMP Arrest Male And Female For Fraud Offences

Strathcona County RCMP arrest male and female for fraud offences

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP have arrested a male and female for attempting to purchase a vehicle using fraudulent identification. 

On Dec. 14, 2021, Strathcona County RCMP Property Crime Unit began investigating a report that a female attempted to purchase a vehicle at a local dealership using fraudulent identification. The female was arrested at the dealership in Sherwood Park, Alta. when she attended to complete the purchase.

RCMP simultaneously recovered another vehicle that the female drove to the dealership with intention to be used as a trade in as part of the deal. It is believed that this vehicle was also purchased with fraudulent identification and this investigation is still ongoing.

On Nov. 18, 2020, Strathcona County RCMP Property Crime Unit received a call from a victim who had been contacted by a vehicle financing company regarding the purchase of a vehicle. It was determined a male suspect was using the victims identification information to complete the purchase.

Police identified the male suspect and he was arrested on Nov. 20, 2021 in Sherwood Park, Alta. when he attended to complete the vehicle purchase. The male suspect was searched incidental to arrest and police located the fraudulent identification.

Briese Beaulieu (27) of Edmonton, Alta. has been charged with:

·         Fraud over $5000

·         Identify fraud

·         Illegal possession of Government documents

·         Fail to comply (x2)

·         Obstruct peace officer

·         Unauthorized use of credit card data

Beaulieu was released from custody following a Judicial Interim Release hearing and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Jan. 19, 2021.

Timothy Peterson (32) of Grande Prairie, Alta. has been charged with:

·         Fraud over $5000

·         Identity theft

·         Identify fraud

·         Illegal possession of Government documents

Peterson was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Jan. 5, 2021.
