Strathcona County RCMP arrest male youth for firearm offences

Strathcona County, Alta - On October 20, 2022 at 3:15 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP received a 911 call of a male pointing what was believed to be a gun at motorists at the intersection of Main Street and Sherwood Drive in Sherwood Park, Alta.

Police arrived on scene and located the male matching the description provided by the complainant. The male was arrested without further incident and the alleged firearm was located. Police have determined that the gun was not real and was an imitation firearm.

A 15-year-old male youth was charged with the following offences;

  • Pointing a firearm
  • Using an imitation firearm during an offence
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

The male was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on November 22, 2022.
