Strathcona County RCMP arrest male for multiple thefts

On May 29, 2025, Strathcona County RCMP responded to a theft report in the Salisbury area of Sherwood Park, Alta.

The suspect initially entered a vehicle, stealing sunglasses, a watch, and a chequebook. He then targeted a second vehicle, taking a wallet and a garage door opener. Using the stolen garage remote, the suspect gained access to the garage and stole two sets of golf clubs. The suspect continued to a third residence, where a 2009 Nissan Altima was stolen.

With the assistance of live GPS tracking the vehicle was located by the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) in the Millwoods area of Edmonton. A male suspect was arrested, and further investigation confirmed he was responsible for all three occurrences.

Jesse Gruchy (35), a resident of Edmonton has been charged with:

• Theft of vehicle
• Possession of stolen property under $5000
• Possession of stolen property over $5000
• Possession of a controlled substance
• Misuse of credit card
• Break and enter

Jesse was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was released with conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 25, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Sherwood Park.

The Strathcona County RCMP would like to remind residents of a few steps you can take to help prevent thefts involving motor vehicles:

• Lock all doors every time you leave your vehicle.
• Remove all valuables from your vehicle.
• Do not leave your garage door remote in the car—take it with you.
• Lock the door between your garage and home.
• Disable remote access while away on vacation.
• Report suspicious activity to police immediately.
