Strathcona County RCMP arrest 2 after police pursuit - update

 

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP have charged a male and female in relation to the firearms complaint and pursuit that occurred on Jan. 19, 2021.

Michael Patrick Hill (23) of Onion Lake, Sask. has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Operation of motor vehicle while prohibited
  • Possession of stolen property under $5000
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000
  • Fail to comply

A 21-year-old female from Onion Lake, Sask. has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle. She was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Mar. 17, 2021.

Michael Hill has been remanded into custody following a judicial hearing and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Jan. 27, 2021.

The officer taken to hospital was treated for minor injuries and released.

Strathcona County RCMP arrest 2 after police pursuit

Strathcona County, Alta. – In connection with an incident that occurred in Vermillion, Alta., at approximately 2:30 p.m., suspects in a black SUV were reportedly pointing a firearm. Alberta RCMP were engaged to locate these suspects. The suspects had reportedly fled the scene in a black SUV.

Strathcona County RCMP and Fort Saskatchewan RCMP assisted Vermillion RCMP.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., the police located the suspect SUV travelling on rural roads and a police pursuit was initiated. From Township Road 542, the suspect vehicle was reportedly heading southbound in a northbound lane on Highway 21. An RCMP police vehicle, pursuing the suspect vehicle, rolled near Township Road 540. Shortly thereafter a second RCMP police vehicle was able to stop the suspect SUV, near Township Road 534, preventing any further risk to the public.

Strathcona County RCMP subsequently arrested two suspects who were both wanted on outstanding warrants. Both suspects are in police custody and charges are pending.

One RCMP officer was taken to hospital via ground ambulance for further medical assistance. No other injuries have been reported at this time.

There are no road closures in relation to this incident. Both scenes are expected to clear shortly.

RCMP investigations are ongoing.
